A Brief History

In 2004 in a growing seaside town called Poole, after a lifetime of practicing something reminiscent of Parkour, Jamie Denton discovered the intricacies of Le Parkour, an art form and discipline from France. After realising he had been technically doing the basics of Parkour his entire life without realising it, he found a whole new drive to progress in this new and rising discipline.

In 2005 via mutual friends, Jamie Denton met Daniel Harvey, Daniel Lebrun and Sam brown, 3 young traceurs. After practicing the basics of Parkour with each other for 2 years in a suburb of Poole, called hamworthy, Sam brown introduced the band of young traceurs to Martin Smith, a musician and long time musical associate of Sams. The 5 individuals were loosely linked together via extended friend networks and the fact that they all went to the same school. In the latter months of 2007, Martin became more and more involved with the others, and due to him living in close proximity to Poole town centre drew the others to Poole town centre, revealing a whole new scale of obstacles and challenges to be dominated and overcome. In mid 2008, the 5 individuals stood together as a self-proclaimed team, the core members of team Rakotaru.

During 2008 and 2009, team Rakotaru began making videos following the philosophies of Parkour that would help fellow traceurs and/or entertain the general public and give information on what Parkour is. Many projects were planned and turned into reality. Come 2010, RKTR were in the midst of releasing their single biggest video series, Project: En Masse, and there are even more projects still to come in the future.
